Building a house in Palo Alto (The home stretch)

House with Stucco

We are getting closer to completion with the house project. We now have two layers of stucco on the exterior, and waiting on the final layer of stucco to be applied (it is painted a creme color) and troweled to have an old-world texture.

The interior of the house has all the sheetrock applied, taped and ready to be textured with old world plaster as well, light finish. It was really tough knowing exactly how something would look as described by the builder, so we had to have them apply alot of samples textures to choose.

Since my last post, alot has happened to the house. Final framing was finished, top level of the roof finished, electrical, wiring, HVAC, plumbing and our Lincoln windows (wood interior and aluminum clad exterior). We had few snags along the way, and generally it has gone really well. It now seems like a real house with the sheetrock applied on the interior. We added extra RC channel sound proofing to house to keep the sound down between bedrooms and the 1st and 2nd floor.

Coming up over the next month we will be painting, finishing the roof, installing the cabinets, doing the tile work/granite tops and putting in the trim moulding, baseboards.
